In honor of pride month, we’re revisiting our feature with Orville Peck.

“Being in the public eye these days is a hellstorm at best. For me I always just feel like a country singer. To other people. I’m many other things, I’m a gay country singer. I’m a masked country singer. I’m a representative for an entire community. I’m someone who shouldn’t be singing country because of who I love. I’m someone who shouldn’t be singing country because of where I am. I’m someone that might be like a gimmick, because I wear an outfit so I can relate to her feelings, because I definitely feel that same pressure in a lot of ways and and judgment.”
