Rapid Fire Questions with Haiden Henderson
Haiden Henderson answers the MARVIN rapid fire questions below:
When was the first time you realized you wanted to be a musician?
I was living in the back of my trunk my freshman year of college and was mind numbingly bored at night so I picked up the guitar as a hobby. Immediately I was so so much more fulfilled by learning a few a songs than I was going to class so I chased that feeling into the pandemic which cemented my love for writing and singing as well.
What’s the first album that made you fall in love with music?
The first memory I have of music being something other than background noise was Katy Perry’s first album One Of The Boys. Those songs are just so ingrained in my childhood and it’s a pretty cool full circle moment that I’m now signed to the A&R that did that record with Katy and helped break her career.
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
Something that would’ve been playing at my middle school dances. Like “Burnin’ Up” by the Jonas Brothers.
Which artists have influenced your career?
I started loving pop music earlier on and artists like Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake captured my attention for sure. Then as I got older, I found my way to my more alternative influences with artists like Death Cab for Cutie, Arctic Monkeys, and Madison Cunningham.
Who do you dream of collaborating with?
I think Nessa Barrrett would be a great collaborator and our styles would mesh really well.
Where (location-wise) do you get the most creative inspiration?
Hmmm I think the front porch of an Airbnb in a new town has a lot to say if you take a few minutes to listen.
What media are you consuming right now (reading/watching/listening to)?
I’m currently rewatching Dexter for the 5th time and as Summer is turning into Fall I’ll be on the hunt for some cozy, feel-good shows. I’m more of a movie over TV person though. I go to the movies alone and with friends almost every week.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever gotten?
Whatever it is you’re doing at the moment…. commit.
