Rex Orange County’s Most Raw Album Yet

After recently announcing his new album The Alexander Technique and theatrical tours in support of the album across North America and the UK, Rex Orange County is back to share a new single “The Table.” Alongside a Nick Walker-directed music video, watch HERE. Listen to “The Table” HERE.

The Alexander Technique‘s announcement to further paint a portrait of what to expect from the forthcoming album, which was produced by Rex himself alongside Teo Halm (Rosalía, SZA, Beyoncé) and Jim Reed, the latter a member of the Rex Orange County touring band since its inception. It’s a back-to-basics album that calls back to the feeling of his breakout Apricot Princess while expanding on the sonic world he’s crafted over the course of his career.

The Alexander Technique is named for a therapeutic practice in which back pain is treated in order to address deeper health problems, and it’s an apt name for Rex’s most raw album to date: what may have begun as a simple exercise in changing the purview of his writing ended up becoming his most confessional, open-hearted album. Stripping back his sound to a skeletal mixture of stream-of-consciousness R&B and indie-folk, while retaining the orchestral lushness that’s become his trademark, The Alexander Technique marks the beginning of Act Two of Rex Orange County’s career: a new chapter on which he lays everything bare, no matter how painful that might be.

Shortly after the album’s release, Rex will embark on a two-month-long North American tour that sees him approaching live presentation of The Alexander Technique differently than he has any of his past touring. Instead of playing the biggest venues possible in each market, Rex has opted to build out a stage show best suited for theaters that will allow him to bring the album to life in a stage show unlike any that he’s done before across multiple performances in nearly every market on the tour. Highlights include an 8-night run at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, a 5-night run at the Beacon Theatre in New York and a 3-night run at Toronto’s iconic Massey Hall, among other dates. He will close out his tour with a 4-date run in 2025 at the prestigious London Palladium.
