It’s been a strange year for Conan Gray: pop’s crown prince of unrequited love songs found himself in a relationship. “The first half of the year was the happiest I’ve ever been in my life, because for the first time ever I was falling in love,” says the 24-year-old, his soft, tousled curls framing his face. “It was really amazing and beautiful. I’d never experienced any of those emotions before. It was unbelievable. Then the other half of the year…” He lets out a devastated little laugh, still reeling from the shock and hurt of his first real, heart-eviscerating break-up.
